What is Cabin Twenty?

We all have our happy places our favorite spots on this earth. Places where when we daydream our minds tend to wander.  My favorite place is located in the upper peninsula of Michigan, a place I traveled to with my family, stuffed in the station wagon sans seatbelts. My mom went to this cottage as a girl and after marrying my dad we went as a family every summer for another eighteen years.  It is heaven on earth for someone who loves the outdoors, fresh caught fish, eating outside, bonfires, marshmallows, shaving your legs and washing your hair in the lake, catching fireflies in miracle whip jars, etc.  Everything I love seems to have started here in a tiny log cabin on the shores of Big Manistique Lake.  All of the curtains were made of barkcloth, the furniture all of fallen trees, the china was mismatched and well worn, the beds...okay, exact replicas of a nags back, soft and inverted.  I went back to our cottage in my early twenties, I climbed up above the stone fireplace in the wreck hall and after close inspection found "David loves Betsy" (Betsy is my given name) still scratched in the pine wall. Ahh, young love.
